"Sie werden so schnell groß!", denken wir uns, wenn wir auf das mittlerweile zehnte Metagame-Masters-Turnier schauen und wenn statt der üblichen 50 plötzlich 70 eifrige Spieler/-innen vor Dem Anderen Spieleladen in Berlin stehen.
Aber was schenkt man einem unberechenbaren Teenie zum Jubiläum? Natürlich eine Team-Player-Option! So konnten sich die Teilnehmer in Dreiergruppen registrieren lassen und in den Swiss-Runden Punkte für coole Preise sammeln, die als großzüge Spende von Community-Mitgliedern im Vorfeld zusammengetragen wurden. Aber wie Connor MacLeod, eingewickelt in Kaninchenfellumhängen, das Pappmaché-Schwert schwingend, schon 1986 überzeugend vorgetragen hat: Der Highlander-Thron ist ein Einsitzer! Und wer sich "Metagame Master" nennen möchte, muss Konkurrenten vernichten und Freunde verkloppen. Das haben folgende acht Männer am besten hinbekommen:

Schön vielfältig ist unsere Top 8 und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Vom einfarbigen Kontrolldeck über Selesnya-Midrange bis hin zu bunten Kombo-Listen war alles vertreten. Und auch unsere Neuzugänge, die im Oktober entbannten Karten Imperial Seal und Entomb, fanden ihren Platz und stärkten unter anderem Dalibors Reanimator oder Jans Artefakte.

Wir haben keine Kosten und Mühen gescheut und für ein entsprechend feierliches Event Urgesteine der deutschen Magic-Turniermoderation mobilisiert … und sie in Englisch moderieren lassen! Denn auch unsere Freunde aus Finnland, der Slowakei und sogar Kanada wollen sich knallharte Spielanalysen nicht entgehen lassen. Thoralf "Toffel" Severin (bekannt aus den Toffeldrafts, Toffelmodern, Toffelmonopoly et cetera) und Jonny "Jonny" Al-Saidi (Legendäre Kreatur – Mensch, Zauberer) führen euch diesmal durch 50-Minuten-Spiele ohne auch nur einmal Luft zu holen! Wow!
Viertelfinale
Mit Jan D. und Jonny A. könnten sich auch 2 professionelle Mau-Mau-Spieler gegenübersitzen. Gewohnt tiefenentspannt und auffällig emotionslos wird hier gerade monoblaue Kontrolle und Esper Midrange gemischt. Nein, diese beiden Männer brauchen keine Sonnenbrillen, Armani-Anzüge und Aktenkoffer, um Geheimagenten nervös werden zu lassen. Doch wer hat sich hier zum Sieg gecountert?
Halbfinale
Hier stehen sich zwei Giganten gegenüber, deren Erfahrunslevel wahrscheinlich nur in dreistelligen DCI-Nummern ausdrückbar wäre. Dalibor fegt durch die Highlander-Turnierszene wie ein Tornado. Doch das Council-Mitglied aus der Slowakei muss sein fünffarbiges Reanimator jetzt gegen Jonny ins Rennen führen, der uns bereits im Viertelfinale gezeigt hat, das Kreaturen überbewerteter Firlefanz sind. Wer wird diese epische Schlacht für sich entscheiden können?
Finale
Nein, Stefan S. wird nicht in so gut wie jedes Top-8-Foto der MGMs reingephotoshopt. Der spielt wirklich so gut! Und dafür braucht er kaum mehr als zwei Karten und eine Handvoll Mountains, denn sein Scapeshift-Deck bringt Dalibor gehörig ins Schwitzen. Schluss mit lustig! Das Finale beginnt!
Landschaftsarchitekt und Hobby-Geologe Stefan hat sich also zum Sieg gevalakutet! Er ist nicht nur Jubiläums-Metagame-Master, sondern auch stolzer Besitzer eines schicken neuen Doppellands.
Und jeder, der jetzt denkt, "Ey, da hab ich mir aber eine gehörige Portion Spaß durch die Lappen gehen lassen!", hat damit absolut Recht! Aber keine Sorge! Das war nicht das letzte MGM. Im nächsten Jahr geht der Highlander-Wahnsinn weiter. Macht euch bereit für Runde 11!
